Paul Walter Hauser Wins The PROGRESS Proteus World Championship
At Chapter 179: PROGRESS Las Vegas, Hollywood actor and rising wrestling talent Paul Walter Hauser added championship gold to his résumé, winning the PROGRESS Proteus World Championship in a five-way scramble match.
The event, held at the Pearl Theatre in Paradise, Nevada, saw Hauser outlast reigning champion Simon Miller, along with Effy, Adam Priest and Charles Crowley. Hauser secured the victory by pinning Priest, marking a major milestone in his transition from screen actor to professional wrestler.
Known for his roles in Richard Jewell, Cruella, and I, Tonya, Hauser has been building a reputation on the independent wrestling circuit since 2023. His performance in this match demonstrated continued growth, ultimately pinning Adam Priest with his signature move, the Haus Arrest.
The Proteus Championship, introduced by PROGRESS Wrestling in 2019, stands out with its unique stipulation: the champion can determine the rules for their title defences, pending approval from the promotion. Hauser now has the opportunity to shape the title’s direction moving forward.
