PROGRESS Wrestling Chapter 179 Preview – PROGRESS, Las Vegas
For the first time in our history, PROGRESS Wrestling is headed to Las Vegas.
As part of The Collective during WrestleMania Week, Chapter 179: PROGRESS Las Vegas takes place on Thursday, 17 April 2025, at the Pearl Theater, Palms Casino Resort, and will be broadcast live internationally on TrillerTV+ and DEMAND PROGRESS PLUS.
One of the UK’s most respected independent wrestling promotions, PROGRESS brings a stacked card to the States – featuring multiple title matches, international stars and names currently turning the heads of billion dollar wrestling promotions. This will be a showcase of the future, happening right now.
PROGRESS WRESTLING MEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Luke Jacobs (c) vs. Michael Oku
The top prize in PROGRESS is on the line as Luke Jacobs defends the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship against Michael Oku in a first-time meeting under the PROGRESS banner.
Jacobs, who recently appeared at the WWE European tryout, has held the title for nearly a year, taking it around the world while building a reputation for devastating, hard-hitting matches. His challenge to Oku was issued directly, demanding “PROGRESS at its best”—a nod to their storied clashes outside the promotion.
Oku, who returned to PROGRESS in 2024 after almost five years away, has been on a mission to reclaim his place at the top. At Chapter 178, tensions escalated when Jacobs’ long-time Young Guns partner Ethan Allen attacked Oku post-match—only for Oku to fire back, landing a statement-making frog splash.
With Cara Noir confirmed to face the winner at Super Strong Style 16, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Can Jacobs continue his dominant run, or will Oku finally rise to the top of the promotion where his journey began?
PROGRESS WRESTLING WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TRIPLE THREAT MATCH
Nina Samuels (c) vs. Rhio vs. Vert Vixen
What began as a one-on-one title defence has become a chaotic Triple Threat, as Nina Samuels defends the PROGRESS Women’s Championship against former champion Rhio and rising American star Vert Vixen.
Vixen’s late inclusion follows a backstage brawl with Rhio at DEFY, reigniting tensions from their unresolved bout in the U.S. that ended in a double count-out. Vixen, a former DEFY Women’s Champion, has made it personal, calling out Rhio repeatedly on social media and demanding a chance to settle the score.
Since losing the title, Rhio’s star has only risen. She was personally chosen by Meiko Satomura for her farewell UK singles match, participated in the WWE tryout, and recently appeared on WWE Raw.
But standing in their way is Samuels, a calculating champion who capitalised on Rhio’s injury at Unboxing to win the title in seconds. Since then, she has used every advantage at her disposal, even refusing to defend the belt at Chapter 178. Samuels now believes Rhio and Vixen’s animosity will be her greatest weapon, allowing her to retain the gold while her challengers tear each other apart.
With egos clashing and pride at stake, this is one of the most unpredictable matches on the card and could shape the future of the division.
PROGRESS WRESTLING PROTEUS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SCRAMBLE MATCH
Simon Miller (c) vs. Paul Walter Hauser vs. Adam Priest vs. EFFY vs. Charles Crowley
The Proteus Championship enters uncharted territory in Las Vegas, as Simon Miller defends in a chaotic Scramble Match against Paul Walter Hauser, EFFY, Adam Priest & Charles Crowley.
Hauser, best known for Cobra Kai and Richard Jewell, is a Golden Globe-winning actor with a growing résumé in the ring. Backed publicly by Teddy Swims and Mario Lopez, Hauser enters WrestleMania Week looking to capture his first-ever wrestling title.
Miller, who won the title from Robbo, has offered a refreshing twist to the Proteus Championship, letting fans vote on stipulations for each defence leading to bouts under “WWE Finisher Only” rules, “Dog House Rulez,” and even “Top Rope Only” finishes.
Joining them are the very different trio of EFFY, Charles Crowley and Adam Priest. The diverse wrestling styles of all three personalities ensure that the Proteus Championship Scramble will be anything but predictable. Their combined presence guarantees a multifaceted challenge for Simon Miller and promises an electrifying match for the fans in Las Vegas.
Now, with unknown challengers, a Hollywood name in the mix, and chaos guaranteed, Miller’s creativity and adaptability will be put to the ultimate test.
PROGRESS WRESTLING TAG TEAM MATCH
Lykos Gym VS Boisterous Behaviour
In a first-time PROGRESS encounter, Lykos Gym go head-to-head with Boisterous Behaviour in a clash of style, speed and spirit.
Lykos Gym are back on a roll. The former PROGRESS Tag Team Champions recently closed the book on their feud with Nico & Mills in the promotion’s first-ever No Ropes “I Quit” Match, and Kid Lykos, having previously held the PROGRESS Men’s World Title, has shifted his focus back to proving that he and Lykos II are the best junior tag team in Europe.
Boisterous Behaviour, meanwhile, are one of the fastest-rising teams in the UK. They earned massive respect with a statement win over the Young Guns in Manchester, and both have since flourished individually. They are named in the Super Strong Style 16 tournament this May, whilst Leon Slater has headlined TNA pay-per-views with the Hardy Boyz and Man Like Dereiss has gone viral for standout performances with GCW.
With both teams potentially eyeing Sunshine Machine’s Tag Team Championships, this could be a title eliminator in all but name.
PROGRESS WRESTLING EXCLUSIVE SHOWCASE MATCH
Cara Noir VS. Minoru Suzuki
Rounding out the announced line-up is a rare U.S. appearance from the ever-enigmatic Cara Noir.
In what can only be described as a true dream match, PROGRESS Wrestling is proud to announce that Cara Noir will face Minoru Suzuki in a first-time-ever singles clash at Chapter 179: PROGRESS Las Vegas.
This is not just another match. This is an encounter between two of the most compelling performers in professional wrestling, both wildly different, yet equally enigmatic and revered.
PROGRESS ATLAS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Axel Tischer (c) VS. Mike D
PROGRESS Wrestling has officially confirmed that Axel Tischer will defend his Atlas Championship against Mike D at Chapter 179 in Las Vegas, a rematch months in the making.
The bout follows their first meeting at Chapter 169: The Devil On My Shoulder, where Tischer narrowly retained the title in a bruising encounter. Now, the Belgian powerhouse Mike D gets another shot, this time on an international stage, during WrestleMania week.
Tischer became the first German wrestler to capture the Atlas Championship after defeating YOICHI during Super Strong Style 16 weekend. Since then, his reign has been derailed due to SAnitY’s ongoing issues, but in Vegas Tischer walks alone across the ring to face an old foe.
Mike D enters the contest with plenty of momentum. Known for his blend of raw power and surprising agility, he has risen quickly through the European wrestling ranks, and already holds major championship gold outside of PROGRESS. A win in Las Vegas would be a career-defining moment for the Belgian standout.Their last encounter didn’t end without incident, following Tischer’s victory, he was blindsided by the returning Smokin’ Aces, casting a shadow over his celebrations. That attack has only added fuel to Tischer’s fire, and he’ll be keen to make a definitive statement against Mike D.
With both men carrying plenty of pride and power into the ring, this Atlas Championship clash promises to be one of the most physically intense matches of the night. Can Tischer hold firm under pressure once again, or will Mike D shock the world and bring the title back to Belgium?
WXW UNIFIED WORLD WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
1 Called Manders (c) VS. Marcus Mathers VS. Tate Mayfairs
The champion, 1 Called Manders, is set to face WWE ID standout Marcus Mathers and Tate Mayfairs in a high-stakes triple threat match.
Initially, Manders was scheduled to compete against Mathers in a singles bout. However, following Manders’ recent victory in the prestigious wXw 16 Carat Gold tournament he went on to raise the gold last weekend, Mathers took to social media platform X to challenge Manders for the championship. The challenge quickly gained momentum when Tate Mayfairs, who holds a victory over Manders from Chapter 176, asserted his claim to be part of the match.
Recognizing the potential for an electrifying contest, wXw officials agreed to the proposal, adding their championship to the line-up of title matches at Chapter 179. This decision brings the total number of championship bouts on the card to five, promising an action-packed event for fans attending the Las Vegas show during WrestleMania week.
