Gene Munny debuted in PROGRESS Wrestling in 2019 when he wrestled in the Natural Progression Series before the very next night competing in the bonkers PROTEUS Title battle royal at Alexandra Palace.

His last appearance in front of fans was the equally crazy reverse battle royal at Unboxing, another showcase for the zany and creative antics Gene brings to a live crowd.

During the Peckham era, Gene was an almost ever present on the shows and despite a lack of a live crowd, his charisma shone through and it was no surprise when they did return he was the first out of the curtain.

His connection with the PROGRESS fans is genuine and heartfelt and a big reason he was entered into the Super Strong Style 16 tournament – where both he and Warren Banks ended the 3 day tournament getting a huge round of applause for their gallant efforts.

He soon found himself wrestling in another insane match – Super Mob Smash XII – a gimmick that by his own admission he hated with every inch of his being.

He would not be deterred though and managed to earn a PROGRESS Men’s World Championship match against Spike Trivet and most recently a Tag Title shot with Connor Mills that ended in a controversial defeat.

At Super Strong Style 16 2024, Munny shocked the wrestling world. The fan-favourite who had once fought with heart and humour turned his back on the audience, revealing a new, ruthless agenda. Aligning himself with Will Kroos, Taishi Ozawa, and a reborn Session Moth Martina, Munny introduced The Family – a faction forged in bitterness, bound by bloodlust, and determined to destroy the old guard of PROGRESS.

As part of the monstrous tag team Mothdog with Martina and in tandem with Kroos, Gene tore through the tag division, defeating teams like Sunshine Machine and terrorising all who dared stand in their way. His war with Simon Miller over the Proteus Title in 2025 was brutal and personal, pushing the limits of what the “Dog House Rules” would allow.

At Chapter 183: 100 VOLTS, Gene Munny achieved what many thought might never come to pass – he became the ATLAS World Champion. Yet the moment that should have been the most triumphant of his career carried a conflicted energy inside the Electric Ballroom.

In recent months, Munny has unveiled a new, harder-edged attitude, spurred on by his alliance with Session Moth Martina. The comedy, charm, and warmth that once made him a cult favourite of the PROGRESS faithful have been replaced by a sharper, more ruthless approach.
