The Nina Samuels show has taken a hit in recent months thanks to Kanji. First Nina Samuels failed to win the PROGRESS Women’s Championship at Super Strong Style 16 weekend because she was pre0ccupied with Kanji and then after calling her out for a tag team match, Kanji was backed up by The Experience and Nina failed to get the victory in a six woman tag match at Chapter 170.
We caught up with Nina Samuels after that show to discuss the match, her partnership with Lena Kross, the involvement of Debbie Keitel and The Experience and of course her thoughts an feelings on her nemesis, Kanji!
You’ve shown a lot of animosity towards Kanji recently. What exactly is it about Kanji that has you so irate? Can you share more about the history or reason behind your issues with her?
At PROGRESS Wrestling Chapter 170, you teamed up with Lena Kross. How did you feel being able to tag with your Sendai Girls partner in PROGRESS? Did the two of you have a specific strategy going into the six-woman tag team match?”
I’m so glad everyone in the UK got to see the wonder that is Lena Kross. I don’t normally work well with others but when Meiko Satomura put us together in Sendai Girls, it just clicked and Lena instantly had my respect and admiration. Our strategy was to be the sickening team that we always are, we’d been undefeated as a team for over a year until this match…
Debbie Keitel was also on your team for this match. How do you think Debbie performed? Was she able to meet your expectations as a teammate?
Debbie Keitel impressed me during the match, it was the first time we had ever teamed before so I was hesitant but The Experience forced my hand to find an extra partner. But at the end of the day, myself and Lena weren’t the ones that got pinned
The match didn’t go your way. How did you feel about the outcome of the six-woman tag team match? Was there anything you would have done differently?
The jury is out on Debbie Keitel. I’m grateful that she came to my aid to even the numbers, she must have realised she owed me after accepting that title match against Rhio earlier this year that should have been mine. I know what she can do and what she is capable of, she didn’t get the job done on the day but I look forward to her proving herself again in PROGRESS.
During the match, LA Taylor held you back on the outside as Kanji beat Debbie, preventing you from breaking up the pinfall. What was going through your mind in that moment?
The realisation that this isn’t over, and it won’t be until Kanji is humbled for the disrespect that she has shown me!
We saw Skye Smitson take a hit to protect Kanji. Do you think this shows that Kanji now has the numbers advantage over you? How do you plan to address this going forward?
This isn’t a popularity contest, this is about me and Kanji. And anyone who feels the need to protect Kanji will regret it
After the match, you attacked Kanji backstage. Can you tell us more about what prompted that attack? Where do you see your feud with Kanji going from here?
