Chuck Mambo PROGRESS Wrestling Interview – “I could not be more sorry.”

In our exclusive interview, the dynamic duo known as Chuck Mambo opens up about Chapter 171: History Is Written By The Victors where he inadvertently cost SAnitY their PROGRESS Tag Team Titles, striking Big Damo by accident and handing the gold to Smokin’ Aces. As the wrestling community awaits the next twist and turn, all eyes are on Chuck to reveal what was going through his head…

Was it the low blow and attack at 170 that brought you to the ballroom that day?

It was not. PROGRESS is a bop and thriving and PROGRESS is home so I was just enjoying seeing a great show and hanging out with friends. The low blow brought me out to the ring though for sure, doesn’t happen often! But I maybe saw red a bit there! Which, I dunno if that was part of a plan from them all along or just how it played out but obviously I regret it!

SAnitY attacked you after… can you understand their actions?

I can. I could not be more sorry. Not only because if we’re not champs the LAST people I would wanna be champs is the Aces but also because front runners that I’d like to see on top is SAnitY. Damo has been such a help to us in our careers and helped guide us to the level we are at now – not just in ring but in all aspects of the business And Axel is just a force!

In fact, after our match in Philadelphia we faced off again with Axel the next DAY in Berlin and he was hitting just as hard as ever. They’re a great team and again, if its not us as champs, THEY deserve to be champs and I’m sorry that I played a part in taking that away from them.

Would I have done what they did after? Honestly I don’t know, its hard to argue they were being hot headed when my hot head from being nut shotted by the aces is what caused their anger. Chain reaction I suppose, so yeah I can understand it. I don’t wanna be a major pansy here but for me, I fucked up, they got hot…I’m happy(ish) to draw a line under it. But I also understand that this is wrestling. And if/when this leads to a match, I’m gonna be coming in to wrestle more so than to fight…how they come in is up to them.

After the show they called you and TK out – do you accept the challenge?

Absolutely. If anything it’d be nice to finally have a straight tag match with them as we’ve not had a good track record against SAnitY, its always been in these 3 way tags so it’ll be nice to just go team vs team.

Let’s talk about something positive to end this… you had an incredible AEW All In weekend capped off with your PROGRESS return. How much did that reaction mean to you from the fans?

Man! We were SO JAZZED that the fans cared we were back. PROGRESS always feels like home but there’s always a fear like what if they see the beach ball roll out and just think something f*cked up? But the reaction at the beachball FIRED ME UP on day 6 on the trot! Thank you to the fans! Man how fun is All In Weekend!

Lastly, now you are back what are your goals?

Get back on top baby! And soak in the JOY that is wrestling for the Ballroom! It’s pretty clear that SAnitY is gonna be a front running priority, and wtf with the Aces, the saga continues! In fact! Attacking us after the match in August was bullsh*t! And really, I hate that they are champions but maybe the stars have aligned as we’d love to reclaim the gold – but more than anything, We wanna fix our most uneven score chart at PROGRESS and that’s getting a win over the Aces in a straight tag!
