Aigle Blanc, your match with Leon Slater was phenomenal and many fans said online it was the match of the night. How did it feel to perform at such a high level, even though the result didn’t go your way?
It’s always bad to lose a match, but I am really not ashamed to lose against someone like Leon Slater. He was the better man on the night but I know that I can beat him. It was a tough match for both of us, this is how our wrestling style is!
The reaction from the crowd during the match was electric. How did their energy impact your performance?
It helped during the whole match for real! It even started with the entrance – the reaction of the people just for my second time in PROGRESS Wrestling pushed me to give 100% of myself and it helped me during the whole match to continue fighting and keep up with him!
Just how good is Leon Slater?
He is really the youngest in charge! With his speed, his strength, his connection with the crowd… its still unreal to know that he is just 19! The sky is the limit for him, but we will meet again.
You’ve had success in other promotions including becoming the first ever WxW European Champion. What do you think needs to happen for you to replicate that winning formula in PROGRESS Wrestling?
I just need more time to make my mark here. Everything is different in every promotion. It took some time in wXw too, and look at me right now! I will do exactly the same in PROGRESS Wrestling.
What was your strategy going into the match with Leon Slater, and how did it evolve as the match progressed?
My strategy was to be as fast as him during the entire match, not to let myself be surprised by his speed by being equal to him. I think it worked, because I was his equal throughout until the end – but I was very close to having him where I wanted.
After such a strong showing, what are your immediate plans and goals within PROGRESS Wrestling?
I want to come back more and more to PROGRESS Wrestling. I want to prove that I belong here, not just by being a good performer, but a real winner.
After another standing ovation from the Electric Ballroom What message do you have for the PROGRESS Wrestling fans?
Please, never change! A few months ago a lot of the PROGRESS fans didn’t even know me, and for my second weekend here they welcomed me like one of their own.
They are special, and this is exactly this type of crowd we want as wrestlers. Once again, never change !
