PROGRESS Wrestling heads back to Camden’s iconic Electric Ballroom this Sunday for Chapter 189: In Darkest Night, with a stacked card, but none no bigger than a huge PROGRESS Women’s World Championship clash as reigning champion Rayne Leverkusen defends against Alexxis Falcon.
Chapter 189, brought to you by Wrestleverse, pits Leverkusen against Falcon and only one woman will stand strong and be the champion leading into what will be a historic year for the women’s division in PROGRESS following the announcement of the first-ever Women’s Super Strong Style 16 tournament
Leverkusen has already successfully retained her title three times, but the question now remains, can she overcome the Iron Queen?
Looking ahead to Chapter 189, Leverkusen said: “To start 2026 as the champion is important to me. I haven’t been at PROGRESS for very long but having such a strong end to 2025, I want to go into 2026 solidifying my place at the top of this division by holding on to my title for 2026 and hopefully even 2027.
“Wrestling at the ballroom is always a highlight. Performing in front of the fans of PROGRESS particularly in the Electric Ballroom is exhilarating.
“This venue will always hold a special place in my heart as it is where I won the biggest women’s title in Europe. Being from London and getting to perform in front of a London crowd as well, makes it that little bit sweeter.”
Discussing her opponent, Leverkusen added: “There is no one who deserves this opportunity more than Alexxis. I know how hard it is to come back from a devastating injury and to see how hungry she is since coming back is inspiring.”
Falcon comes into Chapter 189 with the chance to make history as the first wrestler to hold both the PROGRESS Women’s Championship and the PROGRESS Tag Team Championship, having previously captured tag team gold alongside Charles Crowley.
Falcon said: “It would mean everything to win. I’ve given five years of my life to PROGRESS. I started through the lockdown tapings, through moments where I wasn’t ready yet but still showed up and learned in front of everyone.
“I’ve never held the Women’s Championship, and more than once I’ve felt like it was taken away from me just as I was getting close. It feels like I’ve almost never been taken seriously for it.
“Winning on Sunday wouldn’t just be about finally holding the belt, it would be about proving that the fans who watched me grow over the last five years were right to believe in me.
“Being the first-ever PROGRESS Women’s Tag Champion was a huge milestone for me, but one that I felt was taken away from me too quickly, so it feels like I have spent the last year since coming back trying to be taken seriously again.
“To now have the chance to add the Women’s Championship to that legacy feels incredibly special. I’ve always wanted to be someone who helped shape the women’s division, especially here at PROGRESS, not just benefit from it.
“I think that Rayne needs to know this is personal. Sunday is more than just a match to me.
“This is five years of work, frustration, growth, and belief all coming down to one moment. I respect Rayne, I love wrestling her, but I won’t let this be taken from me again.
“Unfortunately for her she’s the only person who now stands in my way, and I will absolutely bulldoze through her if I must. I’m not playing nice anymore.”
Fans will also have the chance to meet both Leverkusen and Falcon on the day of the show, with a special meet and greet from 1pm ahead of Chapter 189 at the Electric Ballroom.
Rayne added: “Anyone who comes to see me at the merch stand knows I love a chat. I have all the time in the world for wrestling fans. I get to live my dream and have the best job in the world because of these people. I’ll always be grateful to anyone who comes to watch us put our bodies on the line.
“The fans are a big part of what we do. They’re always so loud and proud at PROGRESS, and I genuinely think that’s because every performer really cares about them all and wants them to feel a part of the show,” Alexxis added.
