Report: Chapter 188: UNBOXING VIII – The Search for Socks

PROGRESS Wrestling’s Chapter 188: UNBOXING VIII – The Search for Socks delivered an unforgettable afternoon at Camden’s Electric Ballroom, capping off the 2025 calendar in spectacular fashion.

The sold-out crowd witnessed a fast-paced, festive showcase brimming with surprises, title defences, and triumphant returns as PROGRESS bid farewell to the year in style.

Both PROGRESS World Champions closed 2025 on top, retaining their titles in gripping main events.

Spike Trivet made his long-awaited return after 18 months away, going toe-to-toe with another returning star, NJPW’s Dan Drilla Moloney.

It was Drilla who made the triumphant return to PROGRESS Wrestling — his first match in the UK for two years. He is also a member of 0121 alongside Man Like DeReiss and Leon Slater.

Rayne Leverkusen overcame a hard-fought challenge from Kanji to retain the PROGRESS Women’s World Championship, only to be called out post-match by Alexxis Falcon, who had earlier triumphed in a chaotic six-woman scramble, pinning TNA-bound Harley Hudson.

Man Like DeReiss successfully defended the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship against Robbie X, then issued a challenge to Cara Noir for Chapter 189 in January 2026.

With Man Like DeReiss calling out Cara Noir, will Cara now accept the challenge for the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship?

Charles Crowley faced Bullit in singles action and showed just why you can’t keep him down, no matter the competition and, despite the result, he still tossed his mischievous hat into the ring as the first entrant for Super Strong Style 16, adding intrigue to the 2026 tournament outlook.

Super Strong Style 16 details were announced at Chapter 188: UNBOXING VIII – The Search for Socks and, for the first time ever, PROGRESS will run two tournaments side by side.

Both men and women will be competing in two separate tournaments, marking a new era in one of the world’s most prestigious independent wrestling competitions.

The tenth edition of Super Strong Style 16 will see the launch of the inaugural women’s SSS16, cementing PROGRESS’ commitment to showcasing world-class wrestling talent on every front.

In another first for the globally recognised tournament, first-round matches from both the male and female tournaments will take place across the globe, with promotions in Europe and North America hosting matches as part of the opening rounds.

Meanwhile, Simon Miller brought all his superpowers as Super Simon, teaming up with not just one, but two Batmen, also known as Sunshine Machine,  alongside the returning Drew Parker to defeat Josh Holly, Scott Oberman, and Lykos Gym.
