The Chapter Vault – AEW Star Maxwell Jacob Friedman in PROGRESS Wrestling

Current AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) back when he was in PROGRESS Wrestling.

As we look into the PROGRESS Wrestling vault, did you know that MJF, the current AEW World Champion, competed in our unique match that we call the Thunderbastard at a PROGRESS Wrestling event in 2018?

For those that don’t know, The Thunderbastard is a multi-man match where wrestlers enter the ring at timed intervals, similar to a Royal Rumble, but with a twist.

Unlike a Royal Rumble, where wrestlers are eliminated by being thrown over the top rope, in the Thunderbastard match, wrestlers can only be eliminated by pinfall, submission, or disqualification. The match continues until there is only one wrestler left standing who gets a title shot of their choosing.

MJF was part of a six-man Thunderbastard match at the “Chapter 66: Mardi Graps” event, which also included Jeff Cobb, Darby Allin, Austin Theory, Joey Janela, Parrow, and Rickey Shane Page. Although MJF didn’t come out victorious, he made quite an impression with his in-ring skills and larger-than-life personality.
