PROGRESS Wrestling has had several key moments in its history since the GTA V Release in September 2013. On the GTA 6 countdown we wanted to highlight some of them to fans old and new. Some key PROGRESS Wrestling moments up to that point include:
- Chapter 12: We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Room (2014): This event marked the first PROGRESS Wrestling show held at The Electric Ballroom in Camden, London. The venue became synonymous with us and played a significant role in the promotion’s growth.
- The first Super Strong Style 16 (2015): The now annual SSS16 tournament first took place in 2015 and was won by newly signed AEW superstar wrestler, Will Ospreay.
- Chapter 36: We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Room Again (2016): This event was the biggest show in PROGRESS Wrestling history up until this point, taking place at the Brixton Academy and sending the fans home happy with Mark Haskins winning the Men’s PROGRESS Championship.
- Chapter 55: Chase The Sun (2017): The show included the final match of Pete Dunne’s historic PROGRESS Championship reign, ending an era in the promotion’s history at the historic Alexandra Palace.
- Chapter 76: Hello Wembley (2018): PROGRESS made history by holding its biggest show to date at Wembley Arena in London. The event featured notable matches, including WALTER vs. Tyler Bate for the PROGRESS World Championship.
- Chapter 103: Beer Snake City (2020): This event marked the final PROGRESS show before a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, impacting the wrestling industry worldwide, unfortunately for Cara Noir who won the Men’s PROGRESS Championship on this show.
- Return to Live Shows (2021): After a hiatus caused by the pandemic, PROGRESS Wrestling returned to live shows, adapting to new safety protocols and once again delivering events to its fan base.
- Heavy Metal (2022): The end to the incredible saga between Spike Trivet and Cara Noir as their score is settled in a steel cage match… the first of its kind in PROGRESS Wrestling history.
