At Chapter 173: Stay Young & Invincible, Luke Jacobs was pinned for the first time since March in a PROGRESS ring by Leon Slater. Even worse for the PROGRESS Men’s World Champion, the defeat came in his hometown of Manchester.
After picking up that pinfall in the tag team match at Chapter 173, Leon Slater has earned the right for a title shot this Sunday in a quest to become the youngest ever PROGRESS Men’s World Champion.
We sat down with Luke Jacobs to discuss the fallout of Chapter 173 and what to expect at Chapter 174 this Sunday!
Chapter 173 saw you suffer your first pinfall loss in PROGRESS since March. How are you processing that moment – especially as it came in front of friends and family in Manchester?
I have little to say about that, I’m a professional, nobody embarrasses someone like me and gets away with it, that’s all I have to say.
At VENDETTA 2, you’ll defend the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship against Leon Slater. After what happened at Chapter 173, what can fans expect from you in this highly anticipated showdown?
Leon is one of the best wrestlers in the world, arguably the second best in Europe…behind me obviously. Expect nothing but world class professional wrestling for the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship.
Recently, RKJ issued a challenge for the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship but you remained silent… do you see RKJ as a problem?
What is there to say about RKJ? I’ve already beaten him, he says a lot and demands a lot of things but this is my promotion, I’m the number one guy. If anyone’s a problem it’s me, because as long as I hold the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship I will never let it be taken to Norwich.
Ethan Allen has recently been quoted as saying the PROGRESS roster is soft… do you agree with him and do you think he will deal with Man Like Dereiss at VENDETTA 2?
Ethan’s a smart lad, he knows how to wind people up with a few words and I suppose it worked because Dereiss showed some balls for the first time in his life and hit me with my own belt. I hope Ethan tears him apart, the north west strong way.
After a turbulent night in Manchester, how do you plan to regroup and prove why you’re the champion at the top of PROGRESS Wrestling?
I’m going to smash Leon Slater’s head into the last fucking row.
