Charles Crowley has his eyes set on becoming PROGRESS Wrestling Men’s World Champion having achieved his “biggest accomplishment” by winning Super Strong Style 16.
Crowley, who missed the 2025 edition through injury, returned to the Super Strong Style 16 stage in emphatic fashion, defeating Charlie Sterling in a dramatic Final at Camden’s Electric Ballroom to conclude a blockbuster tournament on Monday 4th May.
A journey which began by overcoming Tucker in the first-round, Crowley would go onto dispatch Elijah Blum in the quarter-final before beating Jay Joshua in the last four to set up a thrilling clash against Sterling. After a near 20-minute battle in the ring, Crowley prevailed to secure the SSS16 title.
Crowley told progresswrestling.com: “Winning Super Strong Style 16 means everything to me, it’s the biggest accomplishment in my career and I’ve had many that have changed my life, so this is on another level. It’s not just a career accolade but a personal one, it’s a tournament that someone like me isn’t supposed to win but I did and I have. No one can ever take that away from me.
“After winning Super Strong Style 16,
“I felt it was my time last year when I was injured, but it wasn’t meant to be. So I got into the best shape I’ve ever been in to make sure I’d be happy and healthy enough this year to dominate in ways only this Spectacular Trickster can.”
After winning Super Strong Style 16, he is guaranteed a shot at the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship, a title now owned by Cara Noir, who reclaimed the belt after getting the better of Man Like Dereiss in a No Disqualification Match on the first day of SSS16 – and Crowley knows he must make “sacrifices” in order to reach his next target versus an opponent he describes as “immensely powerful.”
Crowley continued: “Cara becoming champion doesn’t shock me. He’s like an anime villain, he is immensely powerful but just as you think he’s beat, this new form breaks out and he’s even stronger than you realised. He’ll do anything to keep that Championship and I’m not a stupid Imp, I am a clever Imp, I know I’ll have to sacrifice part of me to win, but I’ll sacrifice whatever I have to. I’ve done this far, I’m not turning back now.”
Crowley is grateful to the PROGRESS fans for their support during and following his Super Strong Style 16 triumph.
He added: “Just thank you for your overwhelming support, its reactions and movements like that that force others to listen and pay attention. They were and always will be a part of three of the best matches of my career and I will forever be grateful to all of them for making my win and my journey to it, a memory I’ll never forget – and if I’m lucky enough to have them with me moving forwards, then anything is possible for The Imp & The Chimp.”
