Jack Evans

International High-Flyer Jack Evans To Enter Super Strong Style 16 Tournament

Ariel sensation Jack Evans is the latest name to be added to the star-studded line-up for PROGRESS Wrestling’s Super Strong Style 16 on 3rd-5th June.

The three-day tournament, which takes place at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, North London, will crown a new PROGRESS World Champion. It is unsurprising, therefore, that wrestlers from all over the world are looking for a way into the bracket.

Evans epitomises this cosmopolitan attraction. Born in California and raised in Washington state, he has arguably made just as much of an impact north and south of the USA’s borders. Having been trained by members of the famous Hart family, and spending some time in Stampede Wrestling in Calgary, he was inducted in 2016 into the Canadian Wrestling Hall of Fame.

He made his first foray to Mexico in 2008, and has continued to return frequently ever since, with great success. He has been a multiple-time tag team champion alongside the likes of Angelico, Johnny Mundo and PJ Black, as well as sampling cruiserweight gold.

Evans has also spent time in Japan, adding a further strand to his arsenal. As a wrestler who cites legendary Japanese stars like Hayabusa and Great Sasuke as influences, adding Japanese flourishes to his Lucha development and strong technical grounding means that Evans is an all-round wrestler, and one with 22 years’ experience into the bargain.

A former trampolinist and break-dancer, Jack Evans is truly a unique individual, and his addition into the tournament adds yet another fascinating dynamic to this can’t-miss weekend.

As well as the 16-man tournament, SSS16 will feature Kanji v Gisele Shaw in a two-out-of-three falls match for the PROGRESS Women’s Championship; Cara Noir v Spike Trivet in an I Quit match, after the which the loser will leave PROGRESS; a triple ladder match between tag team champions The 0121, Sunshine Machine and The Smokin’ Aces; and Luke Jacobs defending his Atlas Championship against Axel Tischer.
