After a gruelling victory at PROGRESS Chapter 175: Unboxing VII – The Curtain Call, Luke Jacobs made it abundantly clear why he stands atop the mountain as the PROGRESS Men’s World Champion. After successfully defending his title in a brutal four-way match against Man Like DeReissLeon Slater, and Ricky Knight Jr., Jacobs delivered a fiery backstage promo that echoed his unrelenting dedication to the title.

With dried blood streaking his face and his piercing gaze locked on the camera, Jacobs began, “Look at me. This is what the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship means to me. Man Like DeReiss, Leon Slater, Ricky Knight Jr… I beat them before, and I beat them again tonight.”

His voice grew more impassioned as he addressed his next challenger, Tate Mayfairs, the newly crowned Thunderbastard key holder. “If Tate Mayfairs wants some, he can have some. I will bleed buckets. I will drench that canvas in my sweat if it means I keep this belt.”

Jacobs punctuated his words by slapping the championship three times. In a raised, passionate voice, he continued, “This is the epitome to me. This is years and years of hard work, and no one, especially not Tate Mayfairs with his stupid key gimmick, is going to take it from me. I’ll bleed buckets one more time come February if I have to, and PROGRESS will stay NORTH. WEST. STRONG.”

Since capturing the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship, Jacobs has faced and defeated an impressive list of top-tier competitors, including Kid LykosYoshiki InamuraTimothy Thatcher, and Eddie Dennis. With nine defences already under his belt, he now looks to add Tate Mayfairs to his growing hitlist.

The stage is set for Chapter 177: My Own Destiny on Sunday, February 23rd, where Jacobs will defend his title against Mayfairs who has proclaimed his long road to this opportunity from stacking chairs to driving imports has vowed to make the most of it by using the key to challenge at a named time and place – not a cheap unlocking. Can he overcome Jacobs, a champion who has made it his mission to keep the belt firmly in North West Strong hands?

Will Tate Mayfairs fulfil his destiny and claim his first taste of PROGRESS gold, or will Luke Jacobs prove once again why he is the epitome of a champion? One thing is certain: this match promises to be a war, with the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship hanging in the balance.
