PROGRESS Men’s World Champion Luke Jacobs to face Cara Noir on Day 2 of Super Strong Style 16
PROGRESS Wrestling have officially announced that Men’s World Champion Luke Jacobs will defend his title against the returning Cara Noir on Day 2 of Super Strong Style 16, set to take place on Monday 5th May at the Electric Ballroom in Camden. The highly anticipated clash between the reigning champion and the returning former titleholder promises to be one of the standout moments of the SSS16 weekend.
Luke Jacobs: A Champion with Momentum
Since capturing the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship in 2024, Luke Jacobs has proven himself a dominant and unrelenting champion. Known for his bruising, no-nonsense style rooted in the “North West Strong” tradition, Jacobs has seen off every challenger with a mix of raw aggression and focused intensity. Notable defences against the likes of Kid Lykos and Eddie Dennis have only added to his growing reputation.
Now firmly in control of the division, Jacobs has taken a defiant stance ahead of this title defence. He recently referred to Cara Noir’s Vegas defeat to Minoru Suzuki as “embarrassing”, brushing aside the challenge with open disdain. He’s made it clear that he plans to do more than retain his title; he intends to humiliate the Royal Black Swan in front of the PROGRESS faithful.
Cara Noir: The Return of the Royal Black Swan
Cara Noir’s return to PROGRESS Wrestling marked a poignant chapter in one of the promotion’s most celebrated careers. The enigmatic “Royal Black Swan” held the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship for an astonishing 791 days, the longest reign in company history. His dramatic entrances, psychological warfare and fighting spirit made him a fan faourite and a formidable champion. During that reign, he even overcame two challenges from a younger Luke Jacobs – adding another layer of intrigue to this upcoming encounter.
Cara Noir was once thought of as retired after a foot injury sustained in a brutal steel cage match against Spike Trivet. Now fully recovered, he has returned with renewed purpose and impressive resilience, recently notching victories in the UK and going toe-to-toe with Minoru Suzuki in Las Vegas, proving he’s lost none of his edge.
A Clash of Eras
When Luke Jacobs and Cara Noir meet on Day 2 of Super Strong Style 16, it will be a collision of eras. The current standard bearer of British wrestling will face a man who once defined the very heart of PROGRESS. Jacobs is out to prove he belongs among the greats by toppling one of the most iconic champions in company history, while Cara Noir seeks a restoration to his past glory.
The fans in Camden and watching around the world will witness a pivotal moment in the ongoing story of PROGRESS Wrestling.
