In a dramatic turn of events at PROGRESS Wrestling’s Chapter 169: The Devil On My Shoulder, Lana Austin and Rob Drake were defeated by LA Taylor and Skye Smitson, now known as The Experience. The match culminated in a huge ovation from the crowd, signalling a fresh start for Taylor and Smitson.
Following their loss, Rob Drake sat down for an exclusive interview to discuss the match, what went wrong, and their plans for the future.
Rob, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. It was a tough night for you both. Can you tell us what went wrong in the match against LA Taylor and Skye Smitson?
I’m man enough to admit that they both got the better of us but don’t get it mistaken. I actually felt sorry for them going into that match so of course I didn’t give them everything I have. I have compassion as you know I’m a nice guy. I guarantee it will never happen again with whoever stands in front of me.
Rob, you went toe-to-toe with LA Taylor, who has proven to be a formidable competitor. What was your experience like in the ring with her?
L.A is good, she can be great. She took a lot of punishment and gave it back. She’s got a big future for her. But! I turned my back on an opponent which is the reason she caught me off guard.
Looking ahead, their future seems clear after they signalled for the titles whereas yours both seem less so… what are your plans for the future? How do you intend to bounce back from this loss?
My future is gonna be big and bright I think we all know that. This is a minor set back. I have my eyes on everyone and everything at PROGRESS. Whether that be the ATLAS championship or the possibility of working with NOAH. That’s is a massive goal of mine and I’m eager to show everyone just exactly how ruthless I can be…
