Sunshine Machine Break The Tag Team Record At Unboxing Against FSU

Sunshine Machine (Chuck Mambo & TK Cooper) reached a record breaking milestone at Unboxing V: Deal or No Deal, by beating the original champion’s FSU (Eddie Dennis & Mark Andrews) to now have the most title defences in PROGRESS history.  We caught up with the duo after their in ring celebrations at the event to get their thoughts on this monumental achievement:
CM: It’s no secret that ever since I saw FSU vs swords of Essex Eddie has been a HUUUUGE influence on my career and my life. He was my first favourite British wrestler, my coach and I’m glad to now call him a mentor and a friend.
Mandrews meanwhile is just about as high of a standard of a wrestler and a person as you could possibly be! And also gave my career a huge boost when he invited me to come to attack under a mask many years ago!
All this to say! There effect on my career has been as big as their effect on BritWres which is HUGE! i consider them pioneers of the modern BritWres scene and getting this win over them today is a crowning achievement of Teeks’ and I tag team career! All the sweeter as beating them also gave us the record breaking 9th title defence!
Today is a good day!
TK: With regards to FSU, there is no team more entrenched in the fabric and history of PROGRESS. There are infinite parallels between Sunshine Machine and FSU and it is a match we have been waiting for ever since we climbed those ladders in June and won the World Tag-Team Championships. Eddie has had a strong influence over my time here in the UK, training under him during the Projo days as well as mixing it up back in 2018 during the Coast to Coast America tour where I believe we ended our series 1-1?
Mark Andrews, whilst not directly, absolutely indirectly influenced my decision to even move to the UK back in 2015 as it was highlights of his time in CHIKARA and his ladder match from the chapter that aired for free on the PROGRESS YouTube that ultimately drew me to these shores. I think now is the perfect time for Sunshine Machine vs. FSU as we are fire on all cylinders and from watching their last two matches against 0121 and CPF they are better than ever! Beating the inaugural champions and breaking the record all in one swoop, I’ll be honest it is sweet, but ask me again on April 2nd when we’re still PROGRESS World Tag-Team Champions and we break the 10 year old consecutive days held record… currently held by FSU.
Congratulations to Sunshine Machine.  They now look to extend the record, when they face Lykos Gym at Chapter 148: Start Spreading The News… at the Electric Ballroom, Camden. On January 22nd.
