Paul Walter Hauser has his sights set on retaining his PROGRESS Wrestling Proteus Championship when he faces Big Damo at Chapter 193: PROGRESS Las Vegas!
Hauser defends his Proteus Championship at The Horseshoe, Las Vegas on Thursday, as PROGRESS Wrestling proudly joins forces with GCW’s The Collective ahead of WrestleMania 42.
Standing in his way is Damo, the Beast of Belfast, in what promises to be an unmissable match-up in Sin City.
However, The Mercenary is raring to go, and he insists that his respect for Damo remains strong.
“I’ve got Big Damo coming up on April 16th in Las Vegas and I’m a fan of his, I’ve watched his work for years, especially in the WWE and NXT league, so this guy, he is ferocious but the bigger they are, the harder they fall,” Hauser said.
“I have real-life storylines that bleed in, but most of the time we’re telling a storyline in the ring, and the violence is the avenue for the storytelling, but with Damo, there is respect from my side but I don’t know if he respects me a whole lot, so I want to make him respect me and shake my hand, so the PROGRESS fans in the UK, I met some of them, they are amazing and I have put in a lot of work, and I’ve had 30 matches on the independent circuit, you show up, meet a bunch of folk and just wrestle.”
A Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner, Hauser has pursued a career in professional wrestling in recent years, and he is proud to represent PROGRESS Wrestling on the global stage.
“This match I’m doing with PROGRESS, they are a prominent company in the UK and one of the only truly respected companies worldwide, and this will be about my 30th match in Las Vegas for PROGRESS.
“It was always a childhood dream that I think a lot of folks tinker and have fantasies about, then Sami Callihan asked me to do a charity show and a fundraiser to raise money for the folks who were affected by the fires in Maui and Hawaii, it started off with me making an appearance, signing some autographs and taking some selfie photos, and then a week later, he asked me to wrestle, so I got in the ring and I had my first match in the fall of 2023, I fell in love with it and got bit by the bug.
“I received an adrenaline high, the likes of which I’ve never had, so I felt this is exciting and fun, and I should try it.”
