SIMON MILLER OPENS UP ABOUT HIS JOURNEY IN “STORIES OF PROGRESS” INTERVIEW WITH A2THEK WRESTLING SHOW ON DEMAND PROGRESS PLUS

PROGRESS Wrestling star Simon Miller recently sat down with the A2THEK Wrestling Show for a revealing “STORIES OF PROGRESS” interview, available now on DEMAND PROGRESS PLUS. Miller shared candid insights into his journey from host to wrestler, his experiences in and out of the ring, and his future ambitions in PROGRESS.

On Moving from Host to Wrestler

“I was able to create a connection with the PROGRESS fans through hosting, and it was fun. It breeds a bond, and then it became, ‘We’ll live vicariously through Simon’ when I started wrestling. It’s the coolest thing in the world.”

How Commentary Has Helped Him In-Ring

“I think it helps because you can study wrestlers at home, but in an arena, you see things maybe you wouldn’t see. I would love to do it more, and I’ve had great feedback.”

On His First PROGRESS Feud with Tate Mayfairs

“For a first feud to transition from host to wrestler, I don’t think I wanted anyone else. He brought something out of me that wasn’t there—especially that street fight. My win/loss record wasn’t very good against him, but we aren’t done!”

On His First Singles Win Over Rob Drake

“We were at a crossroads. I didn’t want to lose the support of the fans, and that was in my head going into the match. I needed a win. I am a gimmick, but there’s more to me than that. I said in the ring we were 1-0, and I was right!”

On Wrestling in the USA at WrestleMania Weekend in Philadelphia

“No one is having meltdowns before their music hits more than me. I worry no one will care. There’s an element of imposter syndrome. It was such a cool experience when I got the pop I got. For someone that started wrestling late and got a lot of pushback, you have to take stock of things like that and feel super happy about it.”

On Looking Forward to This Year’s WrestleMania Weekend Show

“I’m nervous. We’ve leveled up from where I was on the card last year. I’d love to face Man Like Dereiss or Luke Jacobs. They offer different challenges, and my thing is to take on the best in the world… Rhio would be on that list too! The announced wrestlers are wrestlers the world is talking about… Michael Oku? Could I beat him?”

On Defeating Robbo to Win the Proteus Championship

“It was like an out-of-body experience. I was so happy they were able to capture my promo, as I only processed it on the Wednesday! I woke up a couple of times with a gigantic smile on my face knowing I did it in PROGRESS—a place people said I would never make it.”

On Making the Proteus Championship a People’s Championship

“I said to PROGRESS, let’s do something fun… Given I had to have a stipulation, I would do anything. You guys choose—we win and lose together. We are bound to get some troll answers soon… blindfold matches are coming! We need light and shade on a PROGRESS show. Robbo made it about him, and this stipulation suits me.”

On Making the Proteus Championship a World Title

“What an honor. Can we get it to the same level as the World Title? The only way we can do that is to defend it everywhere. I’d love a Thunderbastard winner to choose the Proteus!”

On Tagging with Jerry Bakewell at Unboxing and Almost Winning the Tag Titles

“You should probably have more synergy before going for the gold, but to get that close and to give Jerry his moment was cool. The fans loved it. We need to revisit it in the future… that Falcon Arrow splash combo was pretty cool!”

On His Feud with Mothdog

“If Will Kroos doesn’t fall off the top rope, we are probably having a different conversation… I think I need to take them out one by one. They’ve said some very mean things. But don’t mistake my niceness for weakness. I’m not 100% done with them.”

On His Upcoming Match with Charles Crowley

“My concern for Crowley is that he seems to be going a bit nuts. I need to take him to one side and say, ‘Are you okay, bro?’ Crowley can beat me, and I won’t be ashamed. If I beat him, he will go back to his lair and bounce back.”

On the WWE Finisher Stipulation for Chapter 176

“I don’t wanna give it away, but if it comes off, it will reset 2025. If it doesn’t work, I’ll just hit Stunners and Rock Bottoms!”

On Missing Out on SSS16

“I was going to wrestle RKJ, but I genuinely saw a doctor, and they said one bad fall and you’re done. I took council, and they told me it’s not worth it. The promo I did—I was worried about getting booed because I let the fans down. In hindsight, thank goodness I didn’t wrestle at SSS16. I didn’t sleep. I felt that was it, and I wasn’t going to be invited back. It sets up a great story for 2025.”

Goals for 2025

“Everyone’s a dream match, but I want one-on-one with Mark Haskins. Can I survive Haskins? I won’t know until I try. It’s the year of re-establishing the Proteus World Championship. I want to take on anyone that I can.”
