WALTER Breaks Long Standing Record at the Royal Rumble 2023

Former PROGRESS Men’s World Champion and Atlas Champion WALTER broke Royal Rumble records (Longest time in a traditional Royal Rumble match & longest time in a Royal Rumble match and not win) at the 2023 Rumble by entering at number 1 and lasting for 1 hour 11 mins & 25 seconds before being eliminated by the eventual winner ‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes.

The record was previously held by Rey Mysterio in a “traditional” Royal Rumble and WALTER, who is now known as GUNTHER in the WWE and is the current WWE Intercontinental Champion, also managed to match the eventual winner Cody Rhodes with five eliminations overcoming former WWE Champions Sheamus, Kofi Kingston, Drew McIntyre, Booker T and 2022 King Of The Ring, Xavier Woods.

WALTER made his first appearance at PROGRESS Wrestling Chapter 19: Super Strong Style 16 on 24th May 2015.

During his time at PROGRESS he won the Atlas Championship three times and the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship once. During his 417 day reign as Men’s World Champion he also unified the Men’s World Championship and the Atlas Championship in 2019.
