PROGRESS WRESTLING CHAPTER 156 PREVIEW

PROGRESS Wrestling returns to Sheffield this Saturday, 10th September at the 02 Academy. Chapter 156: Steal Yourself will be our first time back in the Steel City since August last year where we had AEW star Konosuke Takeshita on the show, proving our commitment to showcasing the future stars today.

This coming weekend, we are very excited to bring you another stacked card featuring some of the best talent in the UK as well as contracted wrestlers from AEW and Pro Wrestling NOAH.

PROGRESS WRESTLING CHAPTER 156 CARD

WXW SHOTGUN CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:

LAURANCE ROMAN (C) VS GENE MUNNY

Gene Munny has an absolutely huge chance this weekend to become the hero in Sheffield in front of all of his friends and family and become the new wXw Shotgun Champion. In the city that he first revealed his beautiful Gene Munny Championship of Gene Munny Title he can add to his collection by defeating one of the most revered wrestlers in the German scene. Laurance Roman has held the Shotgun Championship for almost a year and has defended against the likes of Davey Richards, Maggot and Michael Oku. Gene has a tough task ahead of him, but with the PROGRESS Wrestling fans behind him… that damn dirty dog might just lift the title once held by the likes of Ilja Dragunov, Pete Dunne and Axel Tischer.

ASCA TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH:

VELOCITIES (C) VS BOISTEROUS BEHAVIOUR

There is not just one European promotion putting their championships on the line in Sheffield at Chapter 156: Steal Yourself, but two. SAJ from Italy have also signed off that their current tag team champions, Velocities will defend against our very own Boisterous Behaviour. Leon Slater is making a name for himself across the globe and he and his partner Man Like Dereiss could well leave this show as the new ASCA Tag Team Champions. This match is going to be absolutely bonkers and we can’t wait.

LUKE JACOBS & LYKOS GYM VS DOMINATUS REGNUM

This is one hell of a grudge match between two sides that are on a collision course to Chapter 157 on the 24th September. Kid Lykos challenges Spike Trivet for the Men’s PROGRESS Championship on that date, but before then, six men that have become increasingly intertwined in this horror story will collide in an epic six-man tag team match. Which of these two warriors will head into Hungry Like The Wolf with the momentum on their side with the help of their friends? The PROGRESS Wrestling fans will certainly hope it is Kid Lykos and their #foreveryone movement behind him will look to provide the support for Lykos Gym and Luke Jacobs to do just that.

LA TAYLOR VS ALEXXIS FALCON

Our Women’s PROGRESS Champion Lana Austin was in the top #5 of the PWI rankings this week and last week she added a new member to her faction, the Lana Austin Experience. Rob Drake shocked PROGRESS Wrestling fans when he speared Alexxis Falcon at our last chapter and now Lana Austin has yet again stacked the odds in her favour. Moments before that, Alexxis asked for a match for the championship, where she was met with a yes, but with an asterisk. She can have the Women’s PROGRESS Championship match if she beats LA Taylor in Sheffield. With Lana Austin as special guest ring announcer. With Skye Smitson as special guest referee. With Rob Drake as special guest enforcer. Can Alexxis earn the shot despite the odds stacked against her?

YOSHIKI INAMURA VS LJ CLEARY

The previous day in Birmingham, Yoshiki Inamura will be attempting to win the PROGRESS ATLAS Championship in his PROGRESS Wrestling debut. If he is successful, LJ Cleary has the chance to make him the shortest ever reigning champion! Inamura has had a tough few months in Pro Wrestling NOAH, fighting some of the biggest names in the world, gaining strength but not victories. He arrives in the UK looking for a fresh start and new competition which LJ Cleary will provide plenty of. Be one of the first fans in England to see Yoshiki Inamura this Sunday.

BRIAN CAGE VS MARK HASKINS

The Machine, Brian Cage, the embodiment of raw power and athleticism, steps into the ring looking to assert his dominance against Mark Haskins, who is the perfect foil for Cage’s overwhelming physicality. His ability to adapt to any situation and his uncanny knack for turning defense into offense make him one of the most versatile and dangerous competitors in the business. When these two incredible athletes clash at Chapter 156: Steal Yourself, it’s strength versus technique. Will Brian Cage’s unbridled power prove too much for Haskins to handle, or will Mark Haskins’ technical prowess unlock the key to defeating The Machine? On an unbelievably stacked card, this could be the crown jewel of Chapter 156: Steal Yourself.

RENEE MICHELLE VS SESSION MOTH MARTINA

In Birmingham at Chapter 155: Feel The Noize, Renee Michelle will face the always focused Rhio. In Sheffield, she faces an entirely different proposition when she comes face-to-face with Session Moth Martina. In what promises to be one of the most fun and entertaining matches on the card, they have even joked online that this one should be a “Loser buys the Strongbow match”. Whilst smiles will be on faces, both of these competitors can go and once the bell rings, there will be fireworks (and cider).

AXEL TISCHER VS CHARLES CROWLEY

Charles Crowley has a very big month ahead of him in PROGRESS Wrestling, culminating in his attempt to become the GCW
Champion when he faces Blake Christian at Chapter 157: Hungry Like The Wolf on 24th September. Before that, the Spectacular Tw*t – who has won six of his last eight PROGRESS Wrestling matches – faces Axel Tischer in an attempt to keep his upward trajectory going into that championship match. The Ax Man is one of the most respected wrestlers in the European scene and a win for Crowley would add to his own new found respectability in PROGRESS Wrestling…

BIG DAMO VS BULLIT

“They’re going to need to reinforce the ring for this one” is an apt wrestling phrase for this match. Big Damo is one of the most successful big men to ever come out of the European wrestling scene and Bullit is looking to become the new head honcho when it comes to big men in British wrestling. He has called this match the “Most important in my wrestling career” and for one night only, he is putting his duty to Spike Trivet to one side. This is about Bullit and his attempt to usurp the man he looks up to so greatly. The only way to beat a God, is to be a God. Which God of wrestling will reign supreme in Sheffield? Be there to find out.
