His opponent, Mike Santana, makes his long-awaited return to PROGRESS Wrestling, having last wrestled at PROGRESS in 2019.The former AEW star, now competing in TNA Wrestling, enters the tournament with a clear agenda: to make a statement and assert his dominance in the ring.
Santana’s comeback promises to add an electrifying dynamic to the tournament.
Luke Jacobs Vs. Mike D
Luke Jacobs is a seasoned contender when it comes to tournaments in PROGRESS.
In 2022, Jacobs won the PROGRESS ATLAS Tournament by defeating WWE Star Bronson Reed (FKA JONAH) in the finals to secure the ATLAS Championship.
Luke faces Mike D, who will be making his PROGRESS Wrestling debut at SSS16.
Mike D was the winner of the 2023 TNA Wrestling Gut Check Competition, which propelled him into the spotlight.
Since then, Mike D has been making waves throughout the European independent wrestling scene.
It’s widely anticipated that this match will become an instant first-round classic, embodying the essence of “BIG MEATY MEN SLAPPING MEAT!”
Gene Munny Vs. Kid Lykos II
That Damn Dirty Dog, Gene Munny faces the Problem, Kid Lykos II.
Previously, Gene Munny has initiated #GENE4SSS16 campaigns to secure a spot in the tournament. However, this year, he’s earned his place outright, solidifying his status as a PROGRESS fan favourite.
Kid Lykos II achieved a significant victory at FREEDOM WALKS AGAIN by triumphing in the multi-man match.

Following an intense rivalry with former PROGRESS Men’s World Champion, Spike Trivet, Lykos seized Championship glory by overcoming The Vulture in a Steel Cage match at TWISTED METAL.
Now, a year later, Kid Lykos defends the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship against Mark Haskins whom he defeated in the tournament final the previous year.
Haskins contended that Lykos’s victory in the 2023 tournament was only possible due to the intervention of special guest referee, Nigel McGuinness.
Rhio (C) Vs. Lizzy Evo Vs. Kanji Vs. Nina Samuels – Ladder Match.
PROGRESS Women’s World Championship
Rhio won the PROGRESS Women’s World Championship at THE LONG HALLOWEEN where she unlocked her destiny by challenging the former PROGRESS Women’s World Champion, Lana Austin.
However, following Rhio’s victory, contenders like Lizzy Evo, Kanji, and Nina Samuels have all been vying for the top spot, each aiming to claim the prestigious title.
Nina Samuels has previously interrupted Rhio’s matches, claiming that upon her return to PROGRESS Wrestling, she should have been immediately granted a Championship opportunity from Kanji, the former 2-time PROGRESS Women’s World Champion.
Lizzy Evo has shown disrespect towards Kanji multiple times in the past, and this disrespect persisted when their match for the #1 Contender to the PROGRESS Women’s World Championship ended in a draw.
This resulted in a triple-threat match at VENDETTA, where Rhio emerged victorious, intensifying the frustrations of both Lizzy Evo and Kanji.
Kanji recently appeared as a special guest on the Nina Samuel’s show at ONE BUMP OR TWO where she announced that the women’s fatal four-way would be contended in a ladder match.
Will Rhio continue her reign of dominance, or are we on the brink of witnessing a new PROGRESS Women’s World Champion?
YOICHI (C) Vs. Axel Tischer
ATLAS Championship Match.
FREEDOM WALKS AGAIN proved to be a momentous moment for both YOICHI and Axel Tischer.
YOICHI became the new PROGRESS ATLAS Champion by defeating Ricky Knight Jr. in a match that stole the show during WrestleMania 40 weekend.
Axel Tischer also became the PROGRESS World Tag Team Champion in a thrilling three-way match between The Cheeky Little Buggers, Sunshine Machine & SAnitY.
Following YOICHI’s successful defense of the ATLAS Championship against Robert Dreissker at ONE BUMP OR TWO, Bullit threw down the gauntlet for a title shot, only to be rebuffed by YOICHI, who questioned Bullit’s honor…
This exchange didn’t go unnoticed by Axel Tischer, who seized the opportunity to challenge YOICHI for an ATLAS Championship match at SSS16, an offer that YOICHI swiftly accepted.
Now, the stage is set for an epic clash between the two PROGRESS Wrestling champions at SSS16. Who will emerge victorious and claim the spotlight?
